Learning to Just Sit! and Focus — reflections on beginner meditation.

Perched straight

backed on chair

with body still

Cross-legged

on the floor hurt

even with pillows

perhaps yoga

is in order

Focus

Breath measured,

Eyes lightly closed

Inhale/exhale 1

Inhale/exhale 2

Inhale/exhale 3

and so on to ten

then repeat again

and over again

around 7 lost

in thought about

improper posture

and the dog barking

outside of mind

and moment

Focus!

Start Over

Inhale/Exhale 1

Inhale/Exhale 2

Inhale/Exhale 3

and so on to ten

then repeat again

and over again

around 7 lost

in thought about…
