With the muted frozen
winter morning light
around snowy Christmas
children awake reluctant
from snow-day dreams
emerging from sleep
to ten amazing inches
of fresh snowman snow,
That night a homey fire,
Mom’s favorite Christmas
music on the record player
sneaking on Christmas cookies
sipping hot chocolate warming
the ice skate and snow fort chill
out of toes as evening grows
to night and the those happy
dreams of that children dream..

This is still a very rough re-write of a poem I wrote back in high-school, over twenty years ago…I like some of the lines…but I think it still needs some work.
Gotta work to get the sentimentality out of it as well.
I like the sentimentality…especially for a Christmas poem!
Yeah? Hmm….still needs even if I keep the sentimentality.
Thanks though for your comment.
